Ben Oliner
Head Coach, 412 Squash
Director of Squash, The Spence School
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Ben has played squash for over 35 years. He has been ranked as high as #3 in the country as a junior and #5 as a men’s open player. Ben was the winner of the Eddie Standing Squash Racquets award for exceptional sportsmanship and excellence of play.
Ben graduated with a B.A. in Urban Studies from Brown University after having played #1 on the squash team for four years and serving as team captain. He has a Master of Science in Sports Management from Columbia University.
As a coach, Ben has taught squash to students of all ages and skill levels at both scholastic and college levels, at nonprofits, academies and private clubs. He has won six league championships and three NYSAIS state championships. Over the years, five of his students have earned All-American honors. Ben has served as the committee chair for high school athletics and U.S. Squash leagues, and has also coached tennis, soccer, golf, and cross country. Ben has experience in writing and implementing policy, fundraising, project management, and curriculum design.
Ben currently serves as the Head Coach of 412 Squash and as the Director of Squash for The Spence School. Since 412's founding, Ben has been involved in every aspect of its operations including managing the construction of the squash courts, recruiting coaches, and designing programs and policies.
